I hope our experience was an anomaly due to short Mardi Gras staffing. I think a few small changes would make us inclined to visit this cafe again, but it won't be for a while as there are other choices in the area to try first. We are not big eaters by any means, so for the 2 of us ladies it was okay, but for a hungry man or a younger person with a healthy appetite it probably wouldn't have been enough - especially for the price. The Reuben was also very good, but for the price there should have been a side dish of some sort - only thing served with it was a small bag of plain chips which was tacky. Especially the sides - potatoes and corn are not expenive items and the amounts on the plate were ridiculously small. The food was tasty, however, for the price the quantity was lame and the overall presentation left a lot to be desired The meatloaf on the special was delicious, however, the portions were 'child size'. us had the special and the other had a Reuben sandwich.

The menu offered a decent variety, and the service was efficient and friendly. We found the atmosphere of this cafe to be clean and inviting. We visit Diamondhead regularly, and often seek out new places for lunch. Could have gotten a better breakfast meal at a Waffle House. The place was clean and smartly decorated but maybe they should spend a little less on big heavy plates (nice as they were) and buy some silverware that doesn't bend in your hand while cutting through your eggs? $45 for 2 breakfast plates - NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. Our Waitress was very sweet but seemed overwhelmed. I wish I would have known they had an eggs benedict special (that's my fav). Oh and they didn't even bother to mention the special stuff scribbled on the chalk board outside. We saw this place advertised on the local channel and thought it looked very promising. Not cooked through and again - no flavor/lack of seasoning, mushy. Don't get me started on the hashbrown casserole. But it was the oddest thing eating the french toast - not a hint of any flavor. Nice and crispy outside but tender on the inside and seasoned well. However I will say the country fried steak was the only saving grace. Have ya'll ever heard of salt? A plate full of tasteless stuff. And it was the tiniest serving of grits I have seen. be ashamed of yourself and your 'southern cook' card should be revoked! lumpy and dry to the bone. When the food finally hit the table - it was lukewarm at best and whoever made the grits - you should. Super friendly staff! Maybe we hit this place on an off day?
